What would my truck payment be?

Estimate a monthly payment range for a truck or trailer from your own numbers.

What this leaves out

  • Taxes, title and registration fees, and warranties.
  • Balloon payments and TRAC lease end-of-term terms.
  • Provider fees and any insurance required on the unit.
  • Whether a provider will work with you at all. That is their decision, not ours.

Assumptions and sources

  • Rate range. The rate range is your own. The default range of 9% and 15% is an example only, not a market, typical, or BreadRoute rate. As of . Example.
  • Other defaults. The default price, down payment, and term are examples. As of . Example.
  • Payment method. Payments are level and monthly, from the standard loan payment formula, with interest figured monthly. At a 0% rate the tool divides the amount financed by the number of months. As of . Calculation scope.
  • What payments exclude. Payments exclude taxes, fees, warranties, and balloon structures. As of . Calculation scope.
  • Rounding. Results round only when displayed. As of . Calculation scope.

How the math works

We take the price and subtract your down payment to get the amount financed. Then we figure what level monthly payment pays that amount off over your term at a yearly rate, with interest charged each month on what you still owe. We do that twice, once at your low rate and once at your high rate, so you see a range. Total interest is the monthly payment times the number of months, minus the amount financed. Total of payments is the monthly payment times the number of months. A longer term lowers the payment and raises the total interest.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an offer?

No. It is an estimate from numbers you enter. BreadRoute is not a lender, and we do not show rates of our own.

Why do I enter a rate range?

Rates depend on the provider, the unit, your history, and the deal, so we do not show a rate for you. Enter rates you have been told, or try a low and a high to see how much the rate moves the payment.

What is left out of the payment?

Taxes, fees, warranties, and any balloon or final payment. Read the full schedule in any contract, down to the last line. See equipment financing.

Does a lease work the same way?

Not always. A lease can be built differently, and a TRAC lease lets the end-of-term rental price be adjusted based on what the lessor gets when it sells the unit. This tool uses a standard loan payment, so use it as a rough guide for a lease and check the contract.

Does a longer term cost more?

Usually the payment is lower and the total interest is higher, at the same rate. Change the term and watch both numbers.
