What BreadRoute is, where your request goes, how we're paid, and the limits of what we publish.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

In short

BreadRoute is not a lender and not a licensed insurance agency. Financing requests go to third-party financing providers, who make their own decisions. Insurance requests go to licensed insurance partners, who handle any coverage options. Our partners may pay BreadRoute a referral fee or commission, and that compensation may affect which partners we recommend and where offers appear. You don't pay us to submit a request.

BreadRoute is not a lender

BreadRoute does not lend money, extend credit, buy receivables, or lease equipment. We do not make credit decisions, underwrite requests, or set or negotiate rates, fees, terms, or eligibility. We are not a bank and are not acting as your broker or financial advisor.

When you submit a financing request, we send it to one or more third-party financing providers. Each provider makes its own decisions on whether to make an offer, the terms, the pricing, the fees, and who is eligible. Any agreement you sign is between you and that provider. BreadRoute is not a party to it.

BreadRoute is not a licensed insurance agency

BreadRoute is not a licensed insurance agency, agent, or broker, and is not an insurance company. We do not sell, solicit, quote, bind, or service insurance, and we do not give advice about which coverage you should carry.

When you submit an insurance request, we send it to licensed partners. They contact you about your request and handle any coverage options, including which insurers they work with, pricing, policy terms, and service after any policy is in place. Any policy is issued by an insurer, not by BreadRoute.

How BreadRoute is paid

Financing providers and our licensed insurance partners may pay BreadRoute a referral fee or commission when we pass along a request or when a deal closes. That compensation may affect which partners we recommend and where offers appear. Operators do not pay BreadRoute or its partners to submit a request. Any fees on a financing deal are set by the provider and are separate.

Submitting a request costs you nothing, whether or not you go forward with anyone. If you do go forward, the costs of that deal or policy, such as a provider's fees or an insurer's premium, are set by the provider, or by the insurer and the licensed agent you work with, not by BreadRoute.

How requests are routed

We work with multiple financing providers and multiple licensed insurance partners. We consider the product or coverage you ask for and the profile of your operation, such as your segment, time under your authority, and the details you give us. The compensation a partner pays BreadRoute may also affect which partners we recommend, which partners receive your request, and where offers appear. Not every financing or insurance option available in the market is offered through BreadRoute.

No guarantee of an offer, terms, or coverage

Submitting a request does not guarantee that a provider will make you an offer, that you will qualify, or that you will get any particular amount, rate, term, or payment. It does not guarantee that any insurance coverage will be offered or available, or at any price. Providers, insurers, and our insurance partners decide those things on their own.

Our guides are general information

Our product pages, guides, glossary, and FAQs are general information about financing and insurance for trucking and logistics businesses. They are not financial, legal, tax, or insurance advice, and they are not a recommendation of any provider, product, or policy. Rules and products change, and every operation is different. Talk to a qualified professional about your situation, and read any agreement or policy in full before you sign.

Each guide shows when it was published and last updated. We correct errors when we find them or when a reader points them out.

Our tools give estimates, not offers

Our calculators and tools produce estimates from the numbers you enter and the assumptions shown on each tool. An estimate is not an offer, a quote, a rate, or a commitment from BreadRoute or anyone else. Actual terms, costs, and coverage come only from a provider, an insurer, or a licensed insurance partner.

Notes on specific products

Merchant cash advance. A merchant cash advance is generally structured as a purchase of a business's future receivables, not as a loan. The provider pays an amount up front and collects an agreed amount from future sales or deposits, often as daily or weekly withdrawals. Because it is usually not treated as a loan, lending rules such as interest-rate limits may not apply in the same way, and the cost is often shown as a factor rate rather than an annual percentage rate. Some states require providers to give cost disclosures for this kind of financing. Read the agreement closely and ask the provider for the total cost.

SBA loans. SBA loans we describe on this site are made by lenders that take part in U.S. Small Business Administration programs. The SBA guarantees part of the loan; it does not make the loan, and neither does BreadRoute. Eligibility, terms, and approval are decided by the participating lender under the program's rules. BreadRoute is not affiliated with or endorsed by the SBA.

Factoring. Factoring is the sale of your invoices to a factoring company, not a loan. Recourse terms, reserves, and fees are set by each factoring company's contract.

About our author's credentials

Our guides are written by Blake Tawney, a licensed property and casualty agent who also holds an excess and surplus lines license. Those licenses are personal to Blake as a contributor. They do not make BreadRoute a licensed insurance agency, and BreadRoute does not sell insurance under them. Insurance requests submitted on this site go to licensed insurance partners.

Who may contact you after you submit a request

When you submit a financing request, the third-party providers it goes to may contact you about it. When you submit an insurance request, licensed partners may contact you about it. They may reach you by phone, text, or email using the details you give on the form.

The exact consent language for each request form is shown on the form itself, before you submit. Please read it there.

Your information

We share the information in a request only with the provider or providers, or the insurance partners, for the request you submit, and with service providers that help us run the request process on our behalf. We don't sell it to lists. Our privacy policy has the details.
